  • KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority)
  • •       Contribute towards the development of logistics plans and processes ensuring compliance with wider logistics policies and WFP standards.
  • •       Support logistics projects or operational day-to-day activities following standard processes and contributing, directly or indirectly, to the effec-tive delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
  • •       Collect and analyse data through research and networking with colleagues to recommend actions to the supervisor to improve performance of local logistics operations.
  • •       Conduct portions of financial analysis and budget reviews, drawing out insights and recommending actions to the supervisor to optimize use of available funds.
  • •       Guide support staff, acting as a point of referral and supporting them with analysis and queries.
  • •       Collate data and contribute to preparation of accurate and timely reporting, supporting a WFP wide view of logistics activities that enables informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
  • •       Support the capacity building of WFP staff and partners for efficient and effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries (i.e. through con-tribution to the training materials).
  • •       Identify and build productive relationships with logistics colleagues and staff within the area of assignment to support an integrated ap-proach to food assistance.
  • •       Follow emergency logistics preparedness practices to ensure WFP are able to quickly respond and deploy food and needed resources to af-fected areas at the onset of the crisis.
  • •       Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required to meet emergency food assistance needs.
  • •       Contribute to the review of budget plans, monitoring and analysis of project financial performance and make recommendations in compli-ance with WFP financial policies and procedures and best practices to support financial analysis and optimization of resources.
  • •       Provide basic analysis on fund and grant balances and refer to the supervisor discrepancies, to support maximum fund utilization and deci-sion-making process.
  • •       Maintain communication with a number of individuals regarding project funds management matters and related processes to clarify any dis-crepancies and optimize use of funds
  • •       Assist in providing the procedural and technical support to staff within the areas of finance and budget, to ensure compliance with WFP finan-cial policies, rules and regulations.
  • •       Monitor monthly expenditure forecasts and provide expenditure reports in order to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • •       Verify vendor claims, advances and other receivables and observe appropriate procurement procedures, to ensure that suppliers are paid in a timely manner and in conformance with WFP finance rules and regulations
  • •       Strong knowledge of CBT Payments/Operations, and the internal relationships between Logistics and Other units/stockholders
  • •       Perform other duties which are required.
  • Skills and qualifications
  • Education: Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management or other related field 0r First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
  • Experience: At least one (1) year of relevant experience with advanced University Degree Or First University Degree with a minimum of two (2) or more years of experience in supply chain management and management of logistics operations in commercial or humanitarian transportation sector.
  • Language: Fluent knowledge (Proficiency/level C) of English and Somali language.
  • Knowledge & Skills:
  • •       Basic knowledge of security procedures, methods, and equipment, typically acquired through technical training and relevant work experience.
  • •       Demonstrated experience in commercial or humanitarian transportation sectors including dealing with shipments and clearing imports/exports
  • •        Monitoring and reporting on transport and freight market conditions and trends.
  • •       Knowledge in coordinating procurement and transportation processes with other units/ teams.
  • •        Experience in warehouse and commodity management.
  • •       Proficiency in using various information management systems, databases and software.
  • •       Hands-on relevant experience in the UN or INGOs is desirable.
  • •       Proficiency in Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • •       Experience coordinating service providers’ contract execution.
  • •       Experience in evaluating offers and writing proposals.
  • •       Experience in report writing.
