- Job Title: Senior Programme Associate (RELIEF) – G7

- Contract Duration: 12 months – Renewable.

- KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority)
- • Support the coordination and implementation of emergency preparedness and relief activities, ensuring responsiveness to the diverse needs of women, men, and youth across urban and rural contexts.
- • Contribute to the design of anticipatory action interventions in collaboration with humanitarian partners.
- • Review relief project proposals, present them to the Project Review Committee, and follow up with Area Offices on committee recommendations.
- • Provide project management support, liaising with internal units and conducting field visits to monitor implementation and resolve operational issues.
- • Draft analytical reports on programme status, food needs, resource utilization, and performance trends, ensuring compliance with corporate quality standards.
- • Contribute to the Humanitarian Response Plan (food security pillar) and related donor reporting.
- • Strengthen the capacity of WFP staff, partners, and government counterparts in emergency preparedness and response.
- • Serve as a focal point for resolving operational issues within the relief portfolio.
- • Track and follow up on resource utilization under relief projects.
- • Support AAP processes, ensuring timely information sharing, consultation, and feedback mechanisms for affected communities.
- • Support community-level programme integration and facilitate feedback and learning processes.
- • Contribute to project closure reporting and provide inputs for routine reports, briefings, and donor communications.
- • Perform other duties as required.
- Skills and qualifications
- Education: Completion of Secondary School Education or University Degree (Diploma/Bachelor) in International Relations, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Economics, Agriculture, Urban and Rural Development or any other related fields.
- Experience: At least seven (7) years of experience with a Secondary School Certificate or University Degree (Diploma/Bachelor’s) with a minimum of two (2) or more years of relevant experience in emergency assistance and humanitarian programmes with a good knowledge and experience working in relief, nutrition, SafetyNet, M&E or livelihood related program activities.
- Language: Fluent knowledge (proficiency/level C) of English and Somali language.
- Other Knowledge and Skills Required:
- • Solid knowledge of humanitarian work, standards, and principles.
- • Very good understanding of food security and related interventions.
- • Experience working in fragile context and or emergency settings.
- • Excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing.
- • Solid analytical skills and capacity to synthesize complex information.
- • Ability to plan and coordinate.
- • Ability to work and deliver quality inputs under pressure
